We are so proud to let you know .....

  • We are an Alabama Reading Initiative Literacy Demonstration Site and are recertified as an Alabama Reading Academy School, 2005
  • We are a Leadership in Math, Science and Technology School (LAMST) and Alabama Math, Science and Techology School (AMSTI)
  • Our Student Council has received the "Honor Council" Award by the National Association of Elementary School Principals for several years.
  • We are the recipient of numerous grants from the Seller Educational Excellence Foundation, Alabama Power Company, ADECA, PRIDE, Alabama State Council for the Arts and The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa.
  • We have a state supported regular education preschool class funded by a grant from the Office of School Readiness.
  • We received a 65,000. grant from the Beaumont Foundation for two laptop computer labs of 15 computers each.
  • Our Chorus and Handbells Choir have performed for PTA "Dicken's Downtown", FOCUS on Senior Citizens, local nursing homes, and local malls.
  • We offer beginning and advanced Girls and Boys tap classes, jazz classes, and baton classes through our Extended Day Program.
  • We are 100% in "adequate yearly progress" (AYP)  and our teachers and staff are 100% Highly Qualified.  
  • We have been approved to initiate our multipurpose building project.

Special Features of Our School....

  • Early Morning Care program beginning at 6:45 a.m.
  • Extended Day Program 3:00-5:45. Call 342-2925 for information about either of these programs.
  • There are at least 3 networked computers in each classroom and two rolling laptop computer labs available for classroom use.

Demographics....

We are a very diverse learning community: 40% white, 40% African American, and 20% Hispanic.
